How to Make Antibodies using Genetic Immunization.

This slide show gives the viewer an overview of the principles of the technique. Genetic immunization offers several advantages over traditional approaches for generating antibodies. Most importantly it does not require any protein (except a small amount of unpurified antigen to test the antibody). Antigen genes are simply cloned into a plasmid, and delivered into an animal. For detailed protocols contact Dr. R.S. Chambers (ross.chambers@utsouthwestern.edu). The procedure shown is the simplest version of the procedure. More advanced versions developed by our laboratory are available (different genetic immunization vectors, adjuvants and non-cloning methods for preparing the antigen gene for immunization).
